It’s time to come clean

Let’s forgive and forget.

I guess its time for an apology.

Sarah Smiley

I guess it’s time for an apology.

Disclaimer: This story is a part of our April Fool’s edition, The Goofordian. This story was created by Guilfordian staff and is not based in fact.

After spending some time in my remote, luxurious estate to reflect and listen, I’ve realized that I need to address what happened. The world we live in isn’t perfect, and neither am I. My actions on the day in question are simply a product of that. I guess it’s time for me to apologize.

What I did goes against everything that I (and the brands that sponsor me) stand for. It was born purely out of ignorance. But to be fair, I didn’t know it was wrong and no one stopped me. I think things just got out of hand. That’s on me, though. And everyone else involved, if you really think about it.

To the people I hurt — I’m sorry I made you feel that way. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I recognize now how my words deeply harmed some communities, but that’s not how I meant it. It just came out like that. We live in a time where everyone is very sensitive, but I’m just not like that. I wasn’t exposed to those things in my upbringing and I am very sorry.

Now I understand that I have power and privilege, and I should use it to do better by reposting important stuff on my Instagram story. I’ve been taking a break from social media because of all of the hate I’ve been receiving, but I’ll be back as soon as my manager lets me back in.

I just want to move on from this. It’s not an accurate representation of who I am and the memes are not that funny. Please stop making them.

I also intend to learn from this situation. That’s why I’ll be keeping you all updated with a YouTube series of my healing journey! Remember to like, subscribe and hit that bell icon! I am very sorry and hope I can do better.

Sending love! <3 XOXO
