A Gamers Paradise: For all Ages

Lost Ark located at 1701-A Spring Garden Street is a gamer’s paradise. The store is open from 12am-9pm near UNCG and has games and systems stretched across decades of time.

Everything from Atari and the gaming gauntlet to the new Xbox one and PS4 reside in this house of games. Lost Ark opened first in August of 2011 by owner Daniel McMillan and has thrived in this community as a local business.

Lost Ark sets itself apart from other used video game stores by providing its regular costumers a plethora of pinball machines. Every quarter, Lost Ark hosts a pinball tournament with cash or store credit as prizes.

The retro pinball machines come from owner McMillan’s own private collection and he swaps them out from time to time making the pinball fun endless! A relatively new trend at Lost Ark, classic 2-D fighters such as Tekken and Street Fighter have taken up residence in the building.

Every other Saturday the Lost Ark crew holds a casual (free entry) classic fighter tournament with prizes being similar to store credit. When asked why the classic 2-D fighters were added, McMillan said it was requested by the customers.

Lost Ark shows how showing love for the community and costumers that interact directly with the business. They show they care and listen to what the fans have to say.

So next time you are on Spring Garden road near UNCG, look for Lost Ark in the big black building shared by a tattoo shop, stop by and experience the nostalgia, who knows, maybe you will become a regular.

First off, Tekken is 3D, not 2D. It shouldn’t be lumped in with Street Fighter, and I say this as a longtime fighter enthusiast.

Second off, Lost Ark is a serious rip-off. Their arcade is fine, granted, but their prices for games are incredibly steep at times, and the games on display are offered at better prices online, or at Edward McKay’s, which might have a smaller selection, but infinitely better pricing. A gamer’s paradise? As a gamer for about fifteen years now, I say no.
