John Waters

The acclaimed screenwriter, film-maker, author, and director, will perform a one-man show about his origins in the trash genre and his successful Hollywood career. John Waters is known for writing and directing films such as the notorious 1970s comedy “Pink Flamingos” and the critically acclaimed comedy “Hairspray.” The show is on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. and tickets for students are $22.50.

Blla Fleck and the Flecktones

Just in case you aren’t familiar with Bla Fleck, there are some who say he’s the premiere banjo player in the world. If you are familiar with Fleck, you know that he just loves to play the banjo, and put it into unique settings. The industry loves him; his ensemble is Grammy-winning 8 times over, most recently for “The Hidden Land” in 2006. They play at the Carolina Theatre on South Greene Street on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36.50.
