Black and White make Grey for L.A. DJ An underground hit for tuned-in hip-hop aficionados is “The Grey Album” by D.J. Danger Mouse. The album, which was never officially released, consists of the lyrics from Jay-Z’s latest album, “The Black Album,” with samples of instrumentals and vocals from the Beatle’s classic “White Album.” EMI Group, the Beatles’s record label, has ordered Danger Mouse to cease and desist production of “The Grey Album.”

First Dog Put to Sleep

Spot, the first family’s English Springer spaniel was put to sleep the afternoon of Feb. 21 after she suffered a series of strokes. According to Laura Bush, the first lady, Spot and the family’s Scottish terrier Barney have provided a great source of entertainment for the Bush family, especially after their two daughters left for college.

Fatal Fire at Indian Space Center

A fire killed six Monday at a solid rocket propellant facility on an island just off the coast of India. The facility that suffered the fire is the main center for Indian ventures into space. Several Indian, Korean, German, and Belgian satellites have been launched from this location. A spokesperson said that there will be no major setbacks to the space program.

N.J. Judge Not Entitled to “Sopranos” Profits

Municipal Judge Robert Baer claims to have entered a verbal contract with “Sopranos” creator David Chase for compensation in exchange for story ideas, and underworld contacts. Baer’s 2002 lawsuit was thrown out by a Federal Judge on Monday. Meanwhile, Chase says he did not use any of Baer’s ideas after sending him a copy of the pilot script in 1995.
