The Theatre Studies Department will open its production of The Illusion Friday, April 4, at 8:00 p.m. in Sternberger Auditorium.
The play follows the department’s productions of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie and Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive with the continued theme of “healing the broken family.”
The comedy was written by French playwright Pierre Corneille in 1636 and adapted by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony Kushner in 1994.
Now, the comedic story with elements of tragedy, love, and healing will be performed at Guilford. The actors include Guilford students Jack Hilley, Vita Generalova, Rachel Gordon, Edward Ferrer, Paul Masters, Rebecca Czarhecki, Samantha Kittle, and Hillary Horne. It is directed by Theatre Studies department chair Jack Zerbe.
The production will run April 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12. Tickets are free to Guilford students and employees, but seating is limited. Reservations can be purchased for one dollar by contacting the Theatre Studies box office at 316-2414.
