Vanilla Coca-Cola

Coke – part of every day life for a college student. And now, Coca-Cola wants to add a new twist to it. How does vanilla sound? While Pepsi is the product of choice for the Caf, the drink machines on campus have Coca-Cola products in them. A new vanilla flavored drink may soon be added to your options.

Barnaby J. Feder of The New York Times said, “speculation is growing that Coca-Cola is preparing to introduce a vanilla-flavored version of Coca-Cola Classic, the world’s best-selling soft drink.”

Don’t get your hopes up for vanilla-flavored Pepsi though. “It’s not something we’re looking at,” said spokesman Larry Jabbonsky of Pepsi. “We think it’s a bit vanilla.”

Students can look forward to this new taste in the drink machines around campus. Sounds like there is no chance of it spicing up the adventure of the Caf, though.

Marc Cohen, beverage analyst with Goldman Sachs said, “When you think about other beverage products . the No. 1 flavor added to products is cherry. No. 2 is vanilla.”

“Coke is very close to a decision,” said John D. Sicher, the editor and publisher of Beverage Digest. Coke is about 90 percent sure about proceeding with the introduction of vanilla-flavored coke.

Beverage Digest has been tracking the speculations for several months. They first published a report on it in November of last year.

All we can do for now is keep our fingers crossed that Coke does go through with the proposition. Sometimes life just needs a little extra spice.
