To all of you tennis fans who missed the men’s team last year, never fear. Both the men and women’s teams are back and ready to start off a great season. The men’s team, after a year is looking forward to rebuilding. This is “a year of the young and the old,” according to coach Brian Judski. Four returning seniors are joined by four first years.

Judski expressed his confidence in the leadership of the seniors, including captain Ari Betof and players Casey Kennedy, Ben Many, and Jason Wynn, and the ability of the new players to step up to the challenge of completing the starting lineup.

With the exception of junior Laura Registrato, the entire women’s team will be playing their first season of Guilford tennis. Coach Jennifer Wolos ‘96,who played on the team herself from 1994-1996, will also be coaching for the first time at the college level.

“Our two goals,” said Wolos, “are to have fun and to constantly improve throughout the season.

Both teams will travel throughout North Carolina and beyond this season, as well as participate in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament in Virginia in April.

They will also play at home, and encourage the community to come out and show their support. Until the courts on campus are resurfaced, however, all home games will be played at Western Guilford High School. The men’s first real home game will be on March 19 vs. Lynchburg, and the women’s will be March 20, vs. Ferrum.
