Ben Burkhardt — 2nd floor English Hall
Chances are that you’ve seen the second-floor corner room in English that faces Dana. You know, the one with all the plants? The one that emits an eerie green light at night? Well, that’s senior Ben Burkhardt’s room, fully equipped as Guilford’s own miniature green house. He has small plants, cacti, a small tree, and viney plants that creep along his wall and bookshelf, surrounding the Janis Joplin poster and multiple Pez dispensers. There’s even a little ‘fountain’ with water vapor oozing into the room. (Good for the plants, you know.) Dorothy and Rose live on his desk — the two little goldfish. His bed is bunked, and he told us that he usually sleeps on the bottom bunk, which is adorned with Mardi Gras beads. It’s no wonder he won first place!
