The Guilfordian Announces Revamped Online Publication with a Host of New Interactive Features

College Publisher provides technology that launches online editions literally overnight
November 15, 2000 – The Guilfordian, campus newspaper of the Guilford College today announced the revamping of their new online publication. The paper is set to go live by the end of the week and will offer readers online access to breaking news as well as a long list of community building features enabling visitors to enjoy a whole host of new and exciting content. Polls, forums, online-chat, syndicated content from schools across the US, QuickTime and Realtime movies, email newsletters and resources such as apartment listings will now be available from the newspaper.

The new online publication offers number of publishing advantages to the paper staff as the platform caters specifically to the campus newsroom and can synchronize with the workflow of any media organization. Newspaper staff can now collaborate from any web connection, submit stories, images or web media directly through a web interface anywhere on the globe. Editors and staff can monitor readership statistics instantly gauging impressions, users sessions and even the most popular stories. The advertising manager feature allows papers to maintain complete control of their advertising inventories and seamlessly solicit, post and track ads and subsequent revenues.

As the Guilfordian begins to publish with the new technology, readers can expect to see a variety of features, from community building to email alerts. Other tools such as built-in polls and forums will create interactivity for the paper and allow staff to moderate and observe reader feedback. The paper will also participate in a syndication process where news from campus papers across the county can be traded.

The Guifordian has teamed up with College Publisher Inc., an e-publishing group enabling campus newspapers to develop interactive, online publications. College Publisher has already established partnerships with a great number of papers nationwide including Boston University’s – Daily Free Press http://www.dailyfreepress.com, Cornell Business School newspaper http://www.cornellbusiness.com, and Boston College – The Heights http://www.bcheights.com College Publisher is excited to begin work with the Guilfordian and will work closely to develop more interactive features as the paper grows.
