News in Brief

Guilford named “green college”

Guilford was included in The Princeton Review’s 2015 Guide to 353 Green Colleges. Selected out of over 2,000 other colleges and universities, Guilford has had great success in promoting sustainability. It has the lowest energy cost per square foot compared to other schools in the region. In addition, it promotes composting and reducing food waste through various compost bins on campus and sustainable energy sources through solar panels. By 2047, it hopes to have a net zero carbon footprint.

Departments moving to new locations

Due to Guilford College’s reorganization and budget reconciliation, some departments have moved to new locations. The CCE student lounge has also moved from Hendricks Hall to Marry Hobbs Hall. Finance has moved into Hendricks Hall from New Garden.  Advancement has moved from the Quaker Village to Hendricks Hall and the Alumni House, and Marketing has moved to New Garden Hall. Campus maps and directories have all been updated to fit these changes.
