It’s no secret that college students spend a lot of money to get their degree. Fortunately, some businesses offer discounts that can help Guilford students save on everyday expenses.
Jam’s Deli
Located on Friendly Ave, across from campus, Jam’s Deli offers Guilford students a 15% discount. When you order your food, show the cashier your Quaker Card, and you will be given the student discount. This discount will make most meals cost less than 13 dollars, making it a nice option for students to eat out.
The Jam’s Deli menu consists of items like burgers, chicken tenders, sub sandwiches, and many more tasty items. They also have a wide variety of delicious dessert items, including cookies, banana pudding, and fried cheesecake.
Harris Teeter
Harris Teeter, also located across the street from Guilford, provides a 5% student discount when linked to a VIC loyalty card. Students can sign up for a VIC card at the store’s front desk and add the discount directly to it.
The discount increases to 10% from August through early October each year. To redeem it, simply scan your VIC card or enter your linked phone number at checkout.
“I would definitely take advantage of the discount that Harris Teeter offers,” said senior Melah Melton, who lives in an on-campus apartment. “I feel like that one is the most worth it to me because I cook at home a lot.”
Harris Teeter shoppers can also earn rewards points that can be used for savings at BP and Harris Teeter gas stations. However, the discount must be reactivated each August and does not apply during the summer months.
Spotify, Hulu, and Disney+
Guilford students can also access a student discount for Spotify Premium. By searching “Spotify student discount” online, students can sign up for Spotify Premium and Hulu (with ads) for just $5.99 a month.
To verify eligibility, students must use their Quaker Card or student email address. The setup takes less than 30 minutes, and users can also add Disney+ for an extra $4.99 a month—bringing the total to under $12 for all three streaming services.
“I take advantage of the Spotify and Hulu bundle,” said sophomore Christian Repass.
The only catch? You’ll need to renew your student verification annually to keep the discount.
Making the most of savings
These discounts could be a massive help to students, but many students here at Guilford don’t know that these are even available.
“If I knew about the discounts, I would’ve definitely taken advantage of them,” said Igor Tennant, a 2025 Guilford graduate.
Hopefully, this article can help you save money while still being able to have the things you enjoy, whether that is music, video streaming, or food.
