If you’ve ever wondered what you get when you combine Reese’s peanut-butter flavor with Oreo’s chocolatey creaminess, now you know. You get Oreo cookies stuffed with Reese’s peanut butter and Reese’s cups filled with Oreo chocolate.
Both products were launched in September, a few months after the companies announced their partnership to fans on July 30, 2025.
According to Southern Living’s Kimberly Holland, Reese’s Oreo cups are permanent. On the other hand, Oreo’s Reese cookies are only available until January 2026.
Michelle Deignan, Vice President of Marketing for Oreo at Mondelez International, shared her own take on the collaboration.
“This collaboration redefines what it means to be a snacking leader by tapping into exactly what our fans are asking for,” Deignan said.
Personally, I’ve never been a fan of Reese’s Cups, but I’ve always loved Oreos, especially with a glass of milk. So, when I heard about this collaboration, I felt both excited and a bit nervous to try them.
With that out of the way, here’s my full taste review for both, from positives to negatives, for anyone who wants to try out these new items.
I started with the cookies. They were okay, but nothing special compared to the original Oreo cookies. I liked them, but I wouldn’t spend any more money on them than I needed to. White cream or mint, two popular Oreo flavors, usually work well with Oreos, but adding peanut butter in the middle just overpowered the chocolate flavor. It very much reminded me of Nutter Butters. The cups were significantly worse. They tasted like plain white chocolate, which was pretty bland. I don’t think I’d buy them again.
Hunter Boykin, a student-athlete at the Early College of Guilford, is currently enrolled in classes at Guilford College. When he tried the cookies, he was rather amazed by their taste.
“You can really taste the combination of flavors between the chocolatey cookie and the creamy inside with the peanut butter flavor. This is very good,” Boykin said.
When asked to rate the cookies out of 10, Boykin responded, saying it was either a six or a seven.
After trying the cups, Boykin said, “It’s just a perfect mix between the Reese’s cup and Oreo, and that’s why I’m very fond of it, compared to the Oreo with the little peanut butter in the middle. I feel like it’s more extravagant. It’s more elegant.” He gave the cups an even higher rating of eight out of ten.
Joe Skipper, a Guilford College student, had a critical view of both products.
He said, “It’s nothing special for a collaboration.” Skipper believes that Oreo and Reese’s shouldn’t have collaborated because both have generic tastes, and mixing them doesn’t create anything new.
“Oreo and Reese’s don’t really have a unique taste. There are some other candies and cookies that there’s nothing like them. So you have to go with those for a collaboration,” Skipper said.
For my final verdict: go for it, try them out. Buy them next time you’re at your local grocery store, or ask a friend who has them. However, if you ask me, I don’t think anyone will be eager for seconds. Despite the hype, the reality is that they’re overrated.
