Men’s tennis: late, but blooming

Game one – postponed. Game two – postponed. Game three – postponed. Does someone hate the men’s tennis team?Probably not.

It may be a little late in the season, but the men’s tennis team finally has three games under its belt.

The first game against Emory & Henry took the team to Bristol, Tenn., where they lost 2-5. There was some joy in Bristol that day when senior Ari Betof won his singles match 8-2. Senior Ben Many also won his 8-5.

Game two they played right here in Greensboro against Ferrum and won 4-3. Betof, again, on his singles match, insuring the win for Guilford. Other singles match victors were seniors Casey Kennedy and Jason Wynn. Kennedy paired with Many won in doubles, as did Betof teamed with Wynn.

Guilford played their match against Lynchburg, again in Greensboro, losing 7-0. The team didn’t rake in any singles wins but Betof and Wynn won their doubles match 8-3.

Right now the team stands 1-2, 0-2 ODAC. It’s early yet. Who knows what could happen?
