Track & Field preparing for ODAC Championship

The track and field teams competed at the Phoenix Invitational at Elon University last weekend.

The men’s 4×100-meter relay of senior Juwan Houston, senior Desmond Marshall, junior Jeremiah Hedrick and junior Asa Bell ran a time of 43.61 seconds, second-fastest time in College history. Hedrick posted a 13.45-meter triple jump, sixth in Guilford history.  Houston finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles race with a time of 15.60 seconds, fourth best in Guilford history.

On the women’s side, Guilford’s 4×100 meter relay team finished eighth in the finals with a time 52.07 seconds. The team of sophomore Zarea Pitts, sophomore Carmen Curtis, first-year Ranicha Sargeant and sophomore Jamie Britt ran the second-fastest time in Guilford history.

Senior Shannon Petsch beat her career record of a 26.57-meter javelin throw with a toss of 27.39 meters. That is the second longest throw in Guilford history.

The teams compete at the Wildcat Invitational at Randolph College on April 12-13 before returning the next weekend to Randolph for the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
