Last Friday, in Bryan suite Z73, there was a jam session that lasted almost five days, according to some reports. Alex Kingson played bass, as James Danaman alternated between playing drum set and the djembe, a traditional African drum. Meanwhile, Dan Milnorson alternated between guitar and singing freestyle lyrics.”It was epic,” said Roger Duke, another Z73 resident. “Epic is a big word,”said Vice President of Enrollment Randy Doss.
Wendy Hobbs, who lives right under the band in X73, disagreed. “They must have played the same three chords for the first 40 hours before switching it up.”
The band, which does not have a name yet, played music inspired by jam bands such as String Cheese Incident and Phish.
“We started by covering “Farmhouse,” because Dan knows all the chords and taught me the bass part.” said Kingson. “We took it from there into a fast blues funk jam.”
“Yeah, they were good, I guess,” said Ben Shoreman, who heard the bass through the walls. “But I’m glad they stopped.”
“They’ve got me all jammed out,” he said, adding, “I haven’t even started my paper yet.”
“I hope we do it again soon.” said Danaman.
“I mean, that was like…” he said as he nodded his head.
The group plans to keep jamming every Friday with their door open for the benefit of all Bryan residents.
