I am writing to protest the lack of recognition or celebration for those of us CCE students who made the Dean’s List in their first semester at Guilford College. I work approximately 50 hours per week, my husband and I are raising four children, I attend Guilford full time, and I made the list. Believe me, it was the hardest task I have accomplished in two decades.

In light of the fact that the first-year, transfer, and Early College students were honored (https://www.guilfordian.com/news/369569.html), it would behoove those in charge of such matters at Guilford to ensure that we CCE students receive comparable recognition.

I know that it is difficult to coordinate an “event,” due to the difficult schedules that we CCE students have. However, the fact that we were able to attain the Dean’s List in spite of our challenging schedules is something to be considered.

Earning a spot on the Dean’s List at Guilford College is, for any student, an enormous accomplishment. For CCE students to accomplish such high-level academic achievement in their first semester at Guilford is something to celebrate!
