Props to Revival Grill

I don’t know of any
Guilford student who
hasn’t spent time at
Quaker Village. For coffee,
music, gourmet
groceries, or good
cheap eats, it’s a quick
walk from campus.
However, few ever walk
the couple hundred extra
feet to Revival Grill. After my meal at
Revival Grill on Tuesday
night, I’m beginning
to think that’s a
real shame. Having
dinner in a party of 12
allowed me to sneak a
taste of many different
entrees, (all in the name
of journalism, of
course) and every bite was
scrumptious.

Revival Grill has a “dressy
casual” atmosphere. Several of
my friends wore jeans and didn’t
get funny looks, but most patrons
were attired more neatly.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable,
and quick with refills.
It was all very tasteful and pleasant,
but not the kind of restaurant
where you worry so much
about using the right fork that
you forget to taste the food.
Which was a very good thing.

The group ordered the vegetable
bruschetta ($4.99) as an
appetizer. The bread was crisp
and topped with tomato, onion,
and cheeses. Three friends liked
it so much that they hoarded
some of the vegetables to top off
their entrees.

My entre was the Bistro
Grill: a beef tenderloin with onions,
peppers, and gorgonzola
cheese. Gnocchi, (potato dumplings)
with a light sauce, was
served on the side. At $15.99 it
wasn’t for everyone’s budget, but
the dish was delicious and well
presented.

The best dish was a friend’s
tilapia, the special of the evening.
Tilapia is a fish similar to perch,
but with a sweeter flavor. It was
grilled and topped with the best
hollandaise sauce I’ve ever
tasted, served with mashed potatoes.
This dish cost $14.99.

If cash is a concern, Revival
Grill can still accommodate you.
Three individual-size pizzas are
offered: spinach and goat cheese,
pesto, and sausage and mushroom.
Each is under eight dol-
lars. The extensive sandwich
menu ranges from $6.50 to
$8.99. Sandwiches are served
with “Belgium fries,” which are
similar to french fries but cut
fresh and fried to a darker
brown.

The desserts are incredible.
My chocolate cake with vanilla
cream was rich enough to be illegal.
Another friend ordered the
warm gingerbread with ginger ice
cream, very tasty. Each was
$4.99.

Revival Grill also offers an
impressive selection of beer and
wine to wash everything down
with style.

Don’t wait for a special occasion
to give Revival Grill a shot.
Save your pennies, grab some
pals, and cross the Avenue to a
dinner you’ll remember.
