In response to Joanna Bernstein's forum piece entitled "Mickey Avalon Wasn't Sober; Why Should Students Be?" I would like to ask one very simple question: Can any of you out there imagine the backlash that would have occurred had Campus Life controlled what acts students brought to campus during Serendipity? Do you suppose we would have heard challenges about who has a "right" to use student activity fees or who controls those fees? So, you want to blame the administration when we don't intervene in your "poor" choices, but you want independence as well? Should we intervene and make choices for you or do we let you make choices that we may not support? It would seem to be the ultimate Hobbesian choice.
