Talk back: Letter to the Editor (Reckless student driving)
Respect and the right of way

As a Guilford College alumnus and a resident in an adjoining neighborhood, I am concerned with the driving habits of our Guilford College students.
I live directly across from the college just off of Arcadia. When I exit Arcadia turning right on to New Garden Rd., I continually have to be alert to students exiting the college and taking a left on to New Garden.
For some unknown reason they think that they have the right of way. I have almost been hit several times and today had a hand gesture made in my direction.
I'm not sure where drivers licenses were passed out to these students and maybe it would be a good idea to offer a course in driver's education.
As far back as I can remember, and it is quite a while, the driver turning to their right from a street to an adjacent street has the right of way, the car turning left, unless they have a turn light should yield.
There is not a turn light at this intersection for either side so you students should be yielding to those exiting Arcadia turning right on New Garden.
