It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do."

This year's election process is well underway. With only four days left until you can cast your votes, the excitement is steadily building towards Tuesday night's climax, when both the new Senate and new Union Officers for 2005-2006 will be announced.

As you may have noticed, campaigning for the upcoming elections has already begun. If you haven't, be on the look out for fliers and posters talking about each of the tickets and the elections process.

Currently there are three official tickets in the running for Community Senate or Student Union office, two for Union and one uncontested ticket running for Senate.

At a forum this yesterday, students and community members had the opportunity to hear from each of the three tickets as well as pose questions about their plans for next year.

Mati Stern (VP), Grace Johnson (Trs), and Tim McLaughlin (Sec) make up Lauren Demarest's ticket for Student Union, while Marcus Rowe (VP), Jennifer King (Trs) and Hawi Hall (Sec) Make up Forest Tom's ticket.
Both groups have excellent ideas for next year and seem really enthusiastic about their potential term in office.

Traditionally allocated a budget upwards of $100,000 a year, the officers of Student Union are responsible for organizing events such as Serendipity, the Formal, and aspects of Homecoming and Family weekends, as well as regularly providing other fun and exciting programs on campus.

I encourage you to engage each ticket on what their specific goals are and what you would like to see from them next year in terms of campus wide programming.

For Community Senate, Leise Gurgly (VP), John Holt (Trs), and Lily Sharpless (Sec), make up Ali Stewart's ticket. As the only registered ticket, Stewart et al. stand uncontested entering next week's elections.
