To all students,

It has recently come to my attention while reading this newspaper that most students around this campus are really biased towards Public Safety. I happen to think public safety is a good thing on this campus.

Furthermore, they are JUST DOING THEIR JOBS!!!!!!!!!

Many do not understand this and that is why students and Public Safety do not get along. Most people around here complain about getting parking tickets or getting into trouble by Public Safety.

Believe me I have had my fair share of parking tickets this year and last year. Just go down and talk to Public Safety and stay calm and most of the time you can get a good reaction from them if you are just polite.

Parking regulations were put into place to help alleviate the parking problem here at Guilford and even the stickers they issued are all designed to help with parking.

Most do not even bother to get the stickers and do not realize that parking stickers are included in your tuition. It is your own fault if you do not get it and therefore deserve the tickets.

Furthermore, if everyone would take the time and read the Guilford College student handbooks or even go onto Guilford's website and read the rules and regulations then there should not be any problems.

We as students also need to realize that Public Safety does not make the rules we can thank campus life and college administration for that; Public Safety just enforces the rules. Also Public Safety does not intentionally try to target any particular student; students act up and force Public Safety to take action. Don't give Public Safety a reason to come after you then you should be O.K. So next time you feel the need to get mad at Public Safety remember that they are just doing their jobs. We as students need to take the extra effort to extend an olive branch of peace to public safety and try to coexist with public safety while realizing they are there to protect us.
