"I think he has been a great help to me on quickly learning how to handle complicated student issues," said Lundquist. "And my impression so far is that students that have met with him respect the job he's doing."
Formerly employed as an attorney in the Fort Wayne, Indiana-based law firm of Baker and Daniels, Fetrow comes to Guilford with a doctorate from the University of Tennessee.
"Aaron is an enthusiastic and effective addition to the campus life staff," said Associate Dean for Student Development Leslie Moss. "His past experience and passion for higher education will make him a valued part of the Guilford community."
Before being employed as a lawyer, Fetrow was working towards his masters of arts in history at Truman State. During this time, he made a number of presentations on student affairs issues and served on a variety of university committees.
He met his wife, Jodi, in 1994, after receiving a B.S. in history from Manchester College. Together, they have two sons, Jadon (age two) and Zach (1 month).
Mrs. Fetrow is a homemaker with a master's degree in science education. Before the birth of her first child, she worked in economics development in Knoxville for four years.
For as long as he can remember, Fetrow enjoyed playing baseball. Born September 21, 1972, in Rochester, Indiana, Fetrow spent most of his childhood days slugging home runs and catching pop-flies in the sandlot field of his neighborhood park.
After graduating from elementary and middle school, the aspiring athlete decided to become involved in high school sports. He played short-stop and second-base and maintained a batting average of about .305. Also, he competed in track in the100 m, 200m, and long jump.
Nonetheless, once Fetrow got to college in Manchester, he decided to switch to golf. Fetrow played at the Division III level in the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference (ICAC) and helped his team place second in the conference as a senior, breaking a 25-year losing streak.
"We were the 'Bad News Bears' of our conference," said Fetrow.
Although he no longer competes in organized sports, Fetrow still performs his cardiovascular workouts in the Ragan Field House gym on a weekly basis.
Fetrow claims that his biggest accomplishment in life is being a father and a husband. As a professional, however, his most notable achievement was completing law school.
"My biggest role and responsibility at Guilford is to provide educational opportunities for students outside the classroom," said Fetrow. "I guess our focus is developing students socially and not disciplinarily."
